IEP Parent Training with Jodie Howard
The California Autism Center has partnered with autism mom and advocate Jodie Howard, JD, to bring you our next parent training.
This training will go into a lot more detail and depth than most parent IEP classes and Jodie will give tips on how to maximize the parents role as an IEP team member.
We will explore the major components of the IEP and how each component supports the others. Attention will be given to the importance of the Present Levels - the child's strengths and weaknesses - and how parents can best utilize these to preserve a right to a corresponding goal and help develop appropriate goals. We will then explore how the goals can then be used to drive Special Education services and supports and the Districts Offer of FAPE. We will examine an example IEP and identify the sections that are vital yet frequently overlooked. Participants are encouraged to bring a copy of their childs IEP to compare.
This event is FREE but please RSVP, space is very limited: https://iepparenttraining.bpt.me/
