Samohi Theatre is excited to present the hilarious play You Cant Take It With You. This powerhouse comedy first premiered on Broadway in 1936 and won the coveted Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1937. It was made into an Academy Award Winning Best Picture and Best Director movie in 1939 and is now one of the most performed high school and college plays. Dont miss this blockbuster comedic hit!|
From Director Kate Barraza You Can't Take It With You is a charming story of a quirky and lovable family that finds comedy in dealing with normal, uptight people. We chose to do this production because it's the type of comedy that has everything for young actors to be successful. It requires a great deal of character development and honest and sincere interaction. As the Russian character Kolenkhov states, Art is only achieved through perspiration. We are perspiring together to deliver the humor of this play in a refreshing way, and quite frankly, it is a good time to laugh at ourselves and others. I know you will enjoy this show.
We promise to make you laugh with five performances in the Humanities Center at Santa Monica High School on November 8 and 9 at 7:00 pm, November 10 at 2:00 pm, and November 15 and 16 at 7:00 pm.
