Musical Journey of Jews In The Ottoman Empire
This is the Third Annual Benefit Concert for Chadeish Yameinu - Jewish Renewal of Santa Cruz. We are fortunate to have secured the music group, ZIRZUVI, as our performers for this year's theme: The Musical Journey of Jews In The Ottoman Empire. ZIRZUVI specializes in the music of the Sephardic Jews who fled the Spanish inquisition to settle in new lands. The Kuumbwa performance will weave together Middle Eastern and Balkan musical styles to create a sound that will take the audience on a journey to distance places and move and groove them in the present moment. Many of the songs performed will be sung in Ladino. The raffle is part of the benefit to Chadeish Yameinu. 1/2 the proceeds go to the winner. Last year's winner took home $750!
