Permian Basin Challenges and Engineered Solutions
The Permian basin has evolved since the early 2000s to being the most active basin in the United States. New efficient drilling and completion technologies has been a key driver in horizontal well development in the basin. There are several challenges in the target formations that require thorough understanding of the geology, reservoir quality, and mechanical properties of the rock. Challenges such as heterogeneity, lateral landing placement, single well optimization, and multi-well spacing and production interference are faced by most operators in the Permian. A data driven approach, coupled with reservoir modeling, engineering workflows, and technologies have been applied in several of these challenges to provide though understanding and solutions for optimal production performance in the Permian.
Bio Foluke Ajisafe is a technology domain manager at Schlumberger in Houston, Texas. Since joining the company in 2008, She has had several roles as a field engineer, production technologist, and senior production stimulation engineer in multiple segments. Her expertise includes hydraulic fracturing, reservoir, and production engineering in various unconventional plays across the U.S. She holds a B.S and M.S in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and a certificate in leadership and decision making in the energy industry from Rice University. She has attended several technical and managerial training schools. She is also an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers with over 10 technical publications in the Oil and Gas Industry.
