This timely and hilarious tale follows the young and innovative Chichikov as he makes his way around town, charming citizens on all levels of the Russian aristocracy with his magnetic charismabut will it be enough for him to pull off hisupremely ambitious getrichquick scheme?

At Spartan Theatre Company we strive to create theatre that resonates with the issues of today. As vast numbers of public libraries close across the country, we wish to keep the older but still relevant stories alive by adapting them for a contemporary audience. We chose a story that reflected some of the foremost issues of today, particularly those related to the financial crisis, the separation of the have's and the have not's, and the moral compass of a man with nothing looking to make something of himself.
