Intermediate Poly Workshop - Spirituality & Polyamory
Queer and poly communities are often noted for our overlap with variants of woo and a variety of spiritual traditions. Many of us have fled upbringings in traditional Christianity or other majority religions, but it seems a lot of us often have deep and intricate spiritual understandings of our own. We've often developed these understandings through trial and error, encounters with other traditions, or even a serious revision of the beliefs we were raised with. It certainly seems many poly people bring these deeply personal spiritualities into their partnerships, but we often don't talk about how until we're considering someone as a partner. So let's take some time to talk about our personal spiritual sides of poly -- whether that's talking about the traditions you fled from, fled to, or even the new frameworks you've created. How is your personal approach to poly impacted by how you see astrology, magick, god(s), mysticism, nature, or anything else you incorporate into your personal spiritual framework?
Intermediate Poly Workshop is a series of monthly workshops where we'll tackle more advanced poly topics as a group. The idea of a topic being more advanced in poly simply stems from the fact that these topics usually arise after someone's been doing poly for a while. These groups are open to absolutely anyone of any level who wants to attend. We just won't be devoting time to covering the usual early poly subjects like jealousy or opening up an existing relationship. The only requirement to attending is your curiosity and openness to discussion.
PRESENTER:
Your workshop leader is Avi Love, a poly nonbinary queer folk who has acquired more labels over the years than you can shake a rainbow glitter stick at. Avi has been practicing poly for about 9 years, though feels like they've only gotten the hang of it recently, and is excited to share experiences and compare notes on how we can all create more fulfilling relational structures for ourselves. Since Avi is a nonbinary queer person with extensive involvement in the kink scene, we're excited to make this a safe space for discussing all varieties of genders, sexualities, and kink identities, and many of the monthly group topics will center around these areas.
