Indian Summer Mini Retreat
An afternoon of yoga, qigong and heartfelt practice, with special focus of kindness and nourishment. Delicious vegetarian/vegan food will be served afterwards by the incredible Glasgow Supper Club guest kitchen.

As we ease into late summer, our practice helps navigate from its high energy towards a slower, core centred practice. We do this through the water element using forms of the sun salute, moving into the front and back of the body to gently flush energy through and bring calm - and the earth element using twists to lift energy into our core, build heat and set our resolve. Seasonal change is an excellent time to reflect and focus on other people in our lives, and offer gratitude for the support they give us.

Our movement will be a warming mix of body clock flow, a potent sequence that takes us through all the meridians helping us reset back into balance. This will be followed by warming seasonal flow yoga - to help ease away stiffness and stuck stress. We will feel more agile and stable. Movement will flow outwards and inwards across the chest, opening the heart, freeing up knots in our upper backs. We will nourish our body, mind and soul. Sound good? It will be! Excellent if you enjoy an active lifestyle, excellent if you would like to ease your way into one! If you are a complete beginner and would like to attend do get in touch.

A more energising first half will be followed with herbal tea and delicious organic snacks before an indulgent and restorative second half. Pranayama (breathing techniques) to balance our energy flow, yoga nidra (deep relaxation), a space to thoroughly rest, allowing patterns of holding to release. In my experience, 20 minutes of yoga nidra feels like I've rested deeply for a good hour. We will enjoy a late summer inspired nidra of around 25 minutes. The afternoon will end with quiet heart led meditation, opening the heart into the present moment, enabling us to feel calm loving kindness, in celebration of lighter and warmer days we've had this summer!

From 6pm, delicious, nourishing vegan food will be offered by Lydia at Glasgow Supper Club: local, seasonal, fresh, helping embed the freed up energy flow in our body, nourishing us inside and out! Please bring a full water bottle. We will sip regularly throughout the session. If you would like to prepare in advance, a couple of mouthfuls of water every 10-15 minutes is an excellent way to hydrate your connective tissue. Wear comfy soft clothing and layers. The studio is fully equipped though feel free to bring your own mat.

Parking is along the road before the farmhouse and equestrian centre. Entry is through the wee gate at the right side of the main gate, follow the road round the back of the house and stables. The Yoga Barn is round the second corner on the right.

My retreat is open to all levels, including beginners. Age 14+ are welcome with an accompanying adult. Any questions, please get in touch!
