Come join us in Bryant Park on a (hopefully) sunny Saturday afternoon to take photos for an exhibit at the Ace & Aro Conference for World Pride later in the month (Got your tickets yet? Here is the meetup event link: https://acearoconference.brownpapertickets.com)
We will be bringing in a photographer to take our pictures. Each of us will hold a small board with something written on it to reflect our respective Ace and/or Aro journeys through life. A few sample focus questions are:
"What's the most important thing you want people to know about your Ace and/or Aro identity?" "What would you want to say to someone who made assumptions about you based on your Ace/Aro identity?"
These photos will be on display (likely in a slideshow format) at the Ace & Aro Conference! We want to put faces to the theoretical concepts of Asexuality & Aromanticism. Help us show that the Ace/Aro Community is just like any other diverse group of people!
If it rains, we will instead meet in the New York Public Library - Stephen A. Schwarzman Building located at Bryant Park. The exact meeting location in the park will be posted here on the day of the event.
A few other points for the photography session:
1) The photographer suggests we wear solid colors and avoid overly complex designs. 2) The poster/board we are planning to use is erasable, but will be relatively small. This means the photo of you will likely be from the waist up. But feel free to be creative in your posing! 3) Because the poster board is small, the phrase you write on should be short and succinct. We suggest trying to think of the phrase(s) you want to use in advance. (Feel free to use the comments section as a place to brainstorm phrase ideas!)
By taking these pictures, you are stating it is okay to display these photos publicly.
