Our tour focuses on three types of gardens: private, community/cooperative, and a public park.
The gardens on tour: This garden features a shady hillside garden which can be viewed from the top of the hill,or by walking down the slope. Terracing allows for various pockets of plantings.
This garden is adjacent to Arneson Acres Park on the West side whose beautiful gardens were professionally designed in 2018.
The property and gardens are on Lake Cornelia. The homeowners have reclaimed land from buckthorn and with grants from the watershed district have stabilized the shoreline. The property has 15 "mini" garden destinations. Arneson Acres Park 4711 W. 70th Street. This is the place to buy day of tour tickets. This Park has many special horticultural collections and beautiful spaces to walk. The formal gardens will be in full bloom as will the pollinator garden. A garden renewal project, the Tranquility Garden, is in process. Visitors may view the site by walking the grounds. No paths in this park; guides will be available. Prepare to spend time here.
