Event
Prickly Pear Palooza
Celebration Lawn at The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens $50 per guest 5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Taste cactus tacos, sip on prickly pear margaritas, and decorate your very own succulent cupcake!
Explore the culinary applications of the prickly pear cactus with a special cooking demonstration and tasting. Guests will enjoy chips and salsa, cactus tacos, and prickly pear margaritas (or agua fresca) as Chef Susan Feniger of Border Grill and Socalo demonstrates the preparation of nopales tacos (made from the prickly pear paddle). Guests will then join The Huntington's curator of the desert collection, John Trager, for a private 30 minute tour of the Desert Garden. Ending the event on a sweet note, attendees will decorate their very own succulent-themed cupcakes in a hands-on workshop led by Rose Garden Tea Room Sous Chef Claudia Engle.
Admission to The Huntington is not required for this event.
