Born and raised on Sullivans Island, South Carolina where most of her novels take place, Dorothea Benton Frank is the New York Times bestselling author of 20 novels. Her first novel, Sullivans Island (Berkley Publishing 2000) debuted at number 9 on the NYT bestsellers list, with over one million copies in print in ten foreign languages. Her subsequent novels in the popular Lowcountry series have all been NYT bestsellers. Frank is also a nationally recognized volunteer fundraiser for the arts and education, and an advocate of literacy programs and womens issues. She lives in the New York City area with her husband.
