Choreographer: Shawn Bible Title: Babel Genre: Contemporary/Modern Description: Babel is a duet conceived around the story of two humans that are not able to speak each others language. Through movement, they communicate to find commonality as a species. Production Credits: Music: Del Blau Al Groc, Tazarine, The Blinding Sun Dancers: Maria Gardner, Sarah Houseplan Choreographer: Steven Blandino Title: Bridesmaids Genre: Contemporary Ballet/Theater Dance/Musical Theater Bridesmaids is intended to develop into a fully produced, full length dance narrative. This specific piece, follows five bridesmaids through their endless journey to find love. With humor, drama, and everything in between, this work portrays the bitter jealousy towards a bride, whilst using a bouquet and veil in a comical yet gut wrenching way to symbolize, the false fantasy of finding that one true love. Production Credits: Music: River, Alexandre Desplat Dancers: Denise Caston, Zuri Foreman, Rina Maejima, Kelcey Matheny, Edward Tolve Choreographer: Ashley Daigle Title: Antelope Canyon Genre: Ballet/Contemporary Ballet/Contemporary Description: Antelope Canyon is one of the most famous canyons on Navajo land east of Page, Arizona and was formed by the erosion of Navajo Sandstone, primarily due to flash flooding. Over the course of time, the passageways eroded away, making the corridors deeper and smoothing out the hard edges of the rocks. The flowing rocks is what makes this canyon so legendary. Antelope Canyon is about how the dancers discover, explore, and travel through this natural creation together. The piece is a 2-minute marathon to the Barn Raising Dance from Seven Brides For Seven Brothers, performed by six to eight ladies dancing as hard as possible and highlighting how powerful women can be. Choreographer: Rannvá Guòrunardóttir Niclasen Title: ROK (TBD) Genre: Contemporary Description: To varying degrees, all people are divided within themselves and have a basic conflict in relation to their goals and aspirations in life. On the one on hand, they have feelings of warm self-regard, and, on the other hand, they have a harsh, judgmental view. This antagonistic point of view is expressed by destructive voices. Sometimes these voices/thoughts become intense and take precedence over peoples more realistic or rational ways of thinking. Production Credits: Music: Paris I, ORKA Sibrandahûs I, ORKA. Set to musical selections from various artists, the four-part piece with a cast of eight dancers symbolizes the experiences of minorities. How within society everyone is an other to someone else, and thus we are all in turn, others. Choreographer: Mindy Jackson Title: Vintage Glitz Genre: Contemporary Description: After having a baby, balancing the work/mom/wife/friend/teacher life is challenging; add to that a mix nudging wonder and deepening concern of artistic relevancy, even if I know, Im not done yet. Through doubt and worry and nausea and nerves, I decided to return to performing. This piece is a return to a time that once was and what is now. Constant, evolving, frenetic, controlled and chaotic.
