Songsim, benefit shows for the Tiyumba Youth Development & Cultural Center on May 18 & 19
Join us for an evening and afternoon of African drumming and dancing with emphasis on a traditional Ghanaian drum and dances ages old and known from young to old in Tamale, northern Ghana.
Master Drummer, Choreographer and founder of Tiyumba, Fatawu Sayibu, originates from Tamale, Ghana and brings stories, traditions and the spirit of African drum and dance to Minnesota. He also is founder and director of the Tiyumba Youth Development & Cultural Center in his hometown of Tamale. The center supports young people to thrive in their formal education as well as learn their traditional language and heritage through stories, drum and dance. We are thrilled to bring Songsim to our community in Minnesota to support the work of the Tiyumba Youth Development & Cultural Center providing culture-based education to children in Fatawu's hometown.
