Full Throttle Rockabilly with The Roostertails! & Special guests Tempest NW.
The Roostertails play an energetic show geared towards a modern live music audience while retaining the feel of traditional rockabilly music. Guitarist Dave Bailey coaxes a range of tones out of his Gretsch guitar, from twangy western swing leads to reverb-soaked surf inspired chords, while Yotes holds down the bottom end with the deep thump of his cobalt blue upright bass. Drummer Travis is the glue that holds it all together, driving the music along with tight rhythms and exciting fills.
The trio of long-time musicians, with over 40 years of combined performing experience, have built a set that stays true to the roots of modern American music while appealing to a wide range of tastes. The group formed in the spring of 2018 when Yotes (upright bass, vocals) approached Travis (drums) wanting to develop a working rockabilly band. Travis suggested Dave as a guitarist, and the trio got to work. Anybody can go see a group of musicians play through a list of songs on a Friday night, says Yotes, We wanted to put together a show that flows from start to finish.
The Roostertails draw their influences, and more than a few songs in their set, from groups like The Stray Cats, The Blasters, and Johnny Cash. Their original music has a swingin' feel and covers subjects from barroom antics, the road life, and emergency preppers to heartbreaks and souped up boat racing.
