Storytime on the Carpet - Planting the Trees of Kenya
Storytime is a FREE activity for Preschool and Elementary school age children. Once a month we put the rugs on the floor to lounge on while listening to a storybook.
We would love to have you and your children join us on our durable rugs. Reading and a craft (with glue and all sorts of fun messy things) is all done in the rug room near (and even on) the rugs.
This month we will be reading: Planting the Trees of Kenya: The Story of Wangari Maathai by Claire A. Nivola
Wangari Maathai, winner of the 2004 Nobel Peace Prize and founder of the Green Belt Movement, grew up in the highlands of Kenya, where fig trees cloaked the hills, fish filled the streams, and the people tended their bountiful gardens.
The reading will be followed by a craft activity.
Storytime on the Carpet is always held on the second Thursday of the month at 11 a.m.
