Rescue Systems 1 - Sponsored by SFFD United Fire Service Women (UFSW)
Rescue Systems 1 is a 40-hour CA State Fire Marshal certified course taught in a five-day format. Key topics include: Team organization, rescue, and environmental considerations, use of ropes, knots, rigging and pulley systems, descending, rappelling, and belaying tools and techniques, subsurface rescue techniques, use of cribbing, wedges, cutting and prying tools, use of fire service ladders in specialized rescue situations, and simulated rescue exercises. RS1 will be taught by instructors from NCRT.
Student Requirements:Students are required to download a copy of the SFT RS1 Manual from their website, and bring to the first day of class (electronic or hard copy).
Required PPE: Fire department helmet or rescue helmet Rope rescue or fire department gloves Long pants or coveralls NO SHORTS Steel toed and shanked safety boots Short or long sleeve t-shirt Ear/eye protection Sun block
Hours 8:00am - 5:00pm (bring your own water and lunch)
Location: South San Francisco Fire Department Training 480 N. Canal Street
Cost: $675 (plus $24.62 service fee)
