Eat Your Way Through Kitsap History 7th Course
In June 2018 the Supreme Court allowed to stand a 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that states must pay to remove culverts and other barriers to fish passage. Today well visit an impressive culvert removal and stream restoration site in Chico to learn about salmon life cycles and about Kitsap Countys program to remove fish barriers. Over lunch at the nearby Kitsap Golf & Country Club, attorney John Sledd, whose law firm successfully argued the culvert case before the Supreme Court, will explain the case, its history and its ramifications. After lunch, those who wish may visit the nearby Chico Salmon Park. Amy Lawrence, Olympic College biology professor and chair of the Chico Park Stewardship Group, will be one of our docents for todays program.
