Tarangini's 27th-anniversary school production is fast approaching on Saturday, May 18th and Sunday, May 19th. We hope you will be able to join us for Smriti Maalika.
In Sanskrit, Smriti means "that which is remembered" and Maalika means "garland." This production is thus a garland of memories, featuring select pieces from the portfolio of Tarangini School of Kathak Dance, performed by over 200 students.
Smriti Maalika includes a tribute to the late Pt. Vijai Shankar, an icon of the Kathak scene in Bengal and recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi award. Guruji, who passed away in March, was a beloved mentor to Artistic Director Anuradha Nag and conducted workshops with Tarangini students in the school's early years.
Over the two days, Tarangini will present two very different, unique collections from the school's repertoire. All the performances are choreographed by Artistic Director Anuradha Nag.
A popular piece composed by Vijai Shankar Guruji, and another which is one of Smt. Anuradha Nag's most well-known choreographies will be presented on both days.
