Blooming Flutes, an Earth Day Celebration Concert
Song of the Angels Flute Orchestra, directed by talented composer, arranger and conductor Charles Fernandez presents an afternoon of music for your listening pleasure. Featured is world renowned flute soloists David Shostac performing Debussy's Afternoon of a Faun, Flight of the Bumblebee, a new arrangement by Dr. Raymond Pancost of Takatsugu Muramatu's "Earth" and Friz Kreisler's "Schon Rosmarin" arranged by Charles Fernandez. Guest harpist, Peter Speziale joins the orchestra, adding a beautiful sonority.
Also included in this program is Linda Kirkpatrick's "Rhapsody of Sprirituals," Laurence Dresner's "Sauntering Down the Boulevard" and Catherine McMichael's "Legend of the Sleeping Bear" featuring Linda Howard on an E Flat Flute. The orchestra welcomes local flutists from the audience to participate in the program closure Bert Kaempfert's "A Swinging Safari."
Premiere Jazz compositions by SOA Flutist and Jazz Musician extraordinaire Kim Richmaond help round out this fun and inspiring repertoire, with Kim as guest conductor! Please join us for this Earth Celebration of beautiful music.
