DIANE CLUCK a singer-songwriter of intuitive folk music based in Charlottesville, Virginia. She employs singing as a healing, textural experience in which audiences may wander, ponder, or simply be. Her vocal style has been noted for its clipped, glottal beauty, and described by NPR as "an unlikely mix of Aaron Neville, the Baka people, and Joni Mitchell--unaffected yet unusual". She accompanies herself on various instruments including guitar, piano, harmonium, zither, and a copper pipe instrument she built by hand. She contributed to New York's burgeoning Antifolk scene in the early 2000s; since then singer-songwriters Laura Marling, Florence Welch (of Florence And The Machine), and Sharon Van Etten have cited Diane's work as influential.
ANNI ROSSI is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer based in Brooklyn. Her repertoire includes strumming her one-of-a-kind electric viola-guitar (crafted out of a treebranch by the mighty Thor Harris of Swans), composing music for Berlin Sun Theater at The Whitney Museum, euphonious pop harmonizing, dirty Aaliyah-inspired RnB jams and working with producer Steve Albini. She is classically trained and studied composition at Cal Arts alongside Julia Holter, Ariel Pink and John Maus.
After parting ways with label 4AD in 2011, she found a wider frame of expression. Rossi is emerging from a period of playfully exploring several tangents of work woven by her creative instincts and raw responses to being human. She just completed a full length album with co-producer Bobb Bruno (Best Coast) and put the final touches on an EP that she tracked at The Magic Shop in its final days.
In addition to these upcoming studio releases, she has a collection of songs that she tracked with her iPod on planes and trains, in her bedroom, in fitting rooms, parks or anywhere else threaded into her everyday life as a means to capture her natural and in the moment work flow. Comfortable on A tightrope will be releasing some of these tracks, prank calls and voicemails as a mixtape collage entitled "HER" which encapsulates the complexities and desires of womanhood and getting it on.
