His quick wit mixed in with his style of storytelling is captivating as he stands half naked on stage, brandishing his trophy scar. Chest Pains is not a show to miss as this charming English mans story really does leave an emotional scar on you Limerick Fringe 2018
Tom Balmont was born with what used to be called a bum ticker that is, with a heart abnormality. In his case it was understood that he would eventually require surgery. You would likely not expect an hour of increasing cringe-inducing descriptions of open heart surgery and its repercussions to be hilarious but, in Toms deadpan delivery, it is. Now I have had couple of friends who have had open heart surgery and they have never laughed about it (well, to be fair one of them is dead) but tom wants to share it all with you - every symptom, every intervention, every suture. You will learn a lot of things that you may have never wanted to know but tom will make it well fun. He is a self-deprecatingly hilarious performer and I am sure you will take him to your heart. (Sorry! Could not resist!) Prague Fringe 2018
Best thing Ive seen this year. Brave, vulnerable and honest. Affable and thoroughly engaging throughout. Audience Member Theatrefest 2018
Very informative if considering heart surgery ALSO, bloody funny we enjoyed Audience Member Theatrefest 2018
I have a heart issue myself, so this show piqued my interest. I wasnt quite sure what to expect, but it turned out to be equal parts funny, informative and touching. Tom is not afraid to tell it straight and I got a really good feeling for what he went through and what to expect myself. I was especially grateful that he took the time after the show to chat and answer questions. It was my highlight of the Prague fringe, and I would highly recommend it even if youre in perfect health (so you can see what the rest of us have to deal with!) Audience Member Prague Fringe 2018
