The Art (and Science) of Hosting Burlesque
Join Beaux and Prudie Peepers for an introduction to hosting burlesque, drag, and variety shows. Beaux and Prudies hosting style is grounded in a commitment to providing an inclusive and non-misogynistic experience for performers and audiences alike. Workshop participants will learn tips and tricks for effective hosting including strategies to handle unexpected situations and how to make a show fun for everyone including yourself!
Participants should wear comfortable clothing and bring a pen and notebook. There will be light movement included in the workshop but it can absolutely be adapted to meet diverse needs. If you would like to request any adaptations, please email prudiepeepers@gmail.com.
Beaux and Prudie Peepers are regular hosts with Green Mountain Cabaret and have emceed and performed at the Vermont Burlesque Festival. They have emceed and performed with Viva Vermont Burlesque, Le Moulin Vert, and Capitol City Queens and have performed with Queen City Drag Cabaret, and at Vermont Pride and Winter is a Drag Ball.
This workshop will be held on the same day and in the same location as An Evenings Gallimaufry: Vauvibilly which will be hosted by Beaux and Prudie. Participants are encouraged to purchase a ticket to the show to get a firsthand look at how the material from the workshop is implemented on stage. Vauvibilly is a benefit so we are unable to offer discounted tickets to participants but there will be special gifts from producer Molly Mack for anyone whos able to join.
