Arrow Rock Night Walk
Your Arrow Rock Night Walk guide will lead you on a 2-hour walk around the village and into some of its most historic (and haunted) buildings, recounting true tales of dastardly deeds and heartbreaking tragedies. You'll walk in the footsteps of great American painter George Caleb Bingham, "Quinine Doctor" John Sappington, the reclusive Gilpin family, rowdy river men, weary pioneers, slaves, merchants, and tradesmen who lived and died and some say linger still ... in the village.
Although not a ghost-hunting event, your guide will tell some of Arrow Rock's ghost stories during the walk, and share evidence collected by professional ghost hunters and participants on previous Night Walks. This tour is packed with interesting history and compelling stories about Arrow Rock's past. Some of these stories may be frightening or upsetting for sensitive souls. Rest assured, this is not a haunted-house style Halloween event. Nothing will take place that is meant to intentionally frighten participants.
Night Walks begin at 7:30 p.m. every Friday and Saturday in October at the Friends of Arrow Rock headquarters, 310 Main St. NEW THIS YEAR: You have the option of adding a pre-walk dinner at the J. Huston Tavern! You'll select your meal from a special menu, created just for our Night Walk guests, that includes many of the Tavern's most popular dishes, including the fried chicken, beef brisket, and fried pork tenderloin. Your meal includes entrée, two sides, biscuits, non-alcoholic drink, dessert, tax and gratuity.
Reservations are required. There is a limit of 32 people per tour and most tours sell out well in advance.
