Where is home to you?
A house with four walls and a roof, or the back of a different bus every night? Surrounded by the family you were born into or friends you've made your family? In your head, or in your heart? This rich repertoire will address these questions and others you may have about the place you call home.
Where is home to those experiencing homelessness?
During "Home is," we highlight this growing population in "Vera's Voices," a suite of songs by musician Michael Owcharuk in honor of his homeless aunt. John Ruskin, a 19th century art critic, once defined home as that place of peace; the shelter, not only from injury, but from all terror, doubt and division.
Where is your home?
For this concert, Puget Soundworks has partnered with StandUp For Kids Seattle, a nonprofit whose goal is to end youth homelessness. Over the last several weeks, our singers have been donating goods that our friends at StandUp distribute to youth on the street, and we invite you to join us. This wishlist includes food, warm things, and other essential items that StandUp needs for their work. You can purchase items directly from the wishlist and have them shipped to StandUp, or you can bring goods with you to the concert and we will collect them.
Puget Soundworks is an all-gender, LGBTQ-friendly chorus serving the greater Puget Sound region. We are an inclusive singing community where all people's voices are heard through energizing performance and social action.
