Your Vision, Your Words
Artists often say that writing a statement is harder than creating their work. BURNAWAY Magazine proudly presents Your Vision, Your Words, a one-day writing workshop for emerging and mid-career artists in partnership with Binders Art. We aim to encourage growth by demystifying the writing process and allowing artists to share feedback with each other. Instructor Katherine Taylor, a practicing artist and educator at Kennesaw State University, will conduct identical sessions on two convenient days: July 13th and July 27th from 11:00AM to 1:30PM.
Taylor grew up in Biloxi, Mississippi. She received her BFA at Atlanta College of Art, and her MFA at Georgia State University. She lives and works in Atlanta. Exhibitions include The Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, The Dalton Gallery, and art fairs in Chicago, New York, Miami, Portland, and London. Taylor is represented by Marcia Wood Gallery in Atlanta. She is a recipient of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia's 2012/13 Working Artist Project grant.
Each of two sessions will be limited to fifteen participants to maximize the potential for peer-to-peer dialogue. Preference will be given to BURNAWAY members, but otherwise, we will accept applicants on a first-come basis. If your session fills up, we will offer you a spot on the other available date. Please contact us if you have any questions.
The workshop is free for BURNAWAY members, $5 for students, and $10 for general artists. New memberships cost as low as $15.
BURNAWAY's writing workshop series is sponsored by the Forward Arts Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to supporting and fostering the visual arts in Atlanta.
