PUERTAS - Calgary Flamenco Festival
A week-long celebration of flamenco music, dance, passionate expression and innovative performances this is the flamenco event of the year.
The Festival kicks off with the Fiona Malena Flamenco Ensemble in the Flamenco fusion work "Puertas" on September 21st at the Webber Academy Performing Arts Centre. Puertas is the story of different cultures that have heavily influenced Flamenco: Indian, Arabic, Jewish and Latin, interpreted by outstanding world musicians, digital projection/technology and stunning Flamenco dance. This is their last stop on their Western Canadian Tour, which follows months of production development and touring in both Spain and England.
