LEWIS BUXTON AT THE SAFFRON WALDEN POETRY CLUB
Saffron Walden Poetry Club is back! Kickstarting this season is the amazing Lewis Buxton. This event will be hosted by poets Hannah Jane Walker and Jess Dickinson.

Lewis Buxton is a poet, producer & workshop leader. Coming from a family of teachers, his work is concerned with fathers and sons, how we learn gender roles, and how young mens image of their bodies fit into the modern world. His poems have appeared in Ambit Magazine, Magma, Oxford Poetry and Ink, Sweat and Tears. In 2017 he was shortlisted for the Oxford Brookes International Poetry Prize and the York Literature Festival Prize, and in 2018 came third in the Magma Poetry Prize. He has headlined stages at The Roundhouse, The Olympic Park, The Royal Festival Hall and the Norwich Arts Centre. His poems have been commissioned by organisations like The Tate, First Story, Nationwide Building Society as well as gaining thousands of hits on YouTube and Facebook. Lewis has performed for internationally renowned organisations like Sofar Sounds as well as regularly in theatres and arts venues across the U.K. He is the director and co-founder of TOAST Poetry, an organisation dedicated to the professional development of poets. He teaches creative writing in schools, libraries and universities around the country.. He has worked for organisations including The Poetry Society, Apple and Snakes and The National Centre for Writing. In 2018-19 he was selected as one of the Poetry School & Nine Arches Press Primers Volume 4 poets. He is the recipient of the Literary Festival Bursary from the University of East Anglia where he is currently completing his Masters degree. He is a First Story writer-in-residence and currently lives between London and Norwich.
