Rainier Chorale Masterworks Concert 2019
In March, were excited to join our voices with classical guitarist and composer, Sam Krahn. Dr. Krahn is an instructor of music at Green River College in Auburn, Washington. His works have been performed by members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble Dal Niente, Duo Gelland, the Cascade Quartet, the Fidelio Trio, Lux String Quartet, Contemporary Music Workshop, the Anaphora Ensemble, and many others. His numerous commissions include new works for Ed Harrison (Maraca Concerto), Duo Gelland (Butoh Study #1), the Fidelio Trio (Trio), Benjamin Cold (flux-mirror), and Strains New Music Ensemble (migration figment). He participated in the 17th World Saxophone Congress and Festival, the NYC Electroacoustic Music Festival, the MATA Festival, the Source Song Festival, and the 70th annual Cheltenham Music Festival. Dr. Krahn was the 2017-2018 Artist in Residence at the Paris Gibson Square Museum of Contemporary Art and a recipient of the 2017 Montana Artists Innovation Award. He received a Ph.D. in music composition at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, studying with James Dillon. He also holds a Master of Music in music composition from Roosevelt University where he studied with Stacy Garrop and Kyong Mee Choi, and a Bachelor of Music in classical guitar performance from Boston University. He has played in numerous rock bands, classical ensembles, improvisational groups, and as a soloist. Join us for this exciting and memorable concert! ONE PERFORMANCE ONLY!
