SHS Drama Hello Dolly!
Stonington, CT  The award-winning Stonington High School Drama Program is proud to announce this years spring musical production, the Broadway masterpiece Hello, Dolly!
I have always been a woman who arranges things, says the inimitable Dolly Levi, a charismatic widow whose cleverness is matched only by her enthusiasm for meddling. Dolly puts her matchmaking wiles to the test as she searches for a wife for grumpy, wealthy Horace Vandergelder of Yonkers, New York. It is soon clear that Dolly would like to marry Horace herself, even as the cantankerous merchant is busy making niece Ermengarde miserable by refusing to let her marry the young artist she loves. The store clerks of Vandergelders Hay & Feed, meanwhile, have commenced upon their own escapades of romantic mayhem; thus is launched a whirlwind frolic through New York City at the turn of 20th century, full of period charm and comic misadventure.
Featuring classic favorites such as Put on Your Sunday Clothes, Elegance, and Before the Parade Passes By, Hello, Dolly! won 10 Tony awards, including Best Musical, when it was first produced for the Broadway stage in 1964. Filled with unforgettable songs, show-stopping dance numbers, and beautiful turn-of-the-century costumes, Hello, Dolly! is sheer pleasure  a touching, big-hearted, timeless delight the whole family will enjoy!
Original music and lyrics by Jerry Herman. Book by Michael Stewart. Hello, Dolly! is a musical adaptation of Thornton Wilders 1955 farce, The Matchmaker. Presented by special arrangement with Tams-Witmark NYC.
