Petroleum
Hamline University Department of Theatre and Dance continues its 88th season with Petroleum, an ensemble-devised piece directed by Taous Khazem. A billionaire known for his generosity, a quirky art collector, a princess who wanted a coup and two average people fighting to protect their livelihoods are interwoven with stories of dragons slumbering peacefully under mountains while the people profit from an elixir that flows freely from underground. Then a curse, a seismic shift and a wave of violence sends it all into turmoil. The past and present of our own magical elixir, petroleum, come to life through dynamic movement and original music. A thrilling account of the fossil fuel we just can't get enough of.
