Upwelling
Upwelling is an ocean-inspired dance performance featuring original work by Amelia Nommensen in collaboration with dancers Chelsea Boyd Brown, Audrey Johnson, and Wednesday Manners. Join us for a dive into the alluring mysteries of the ocean and the interconnected web of an ecosystem. Pulling deep sea sounds from research recordings by oceanographer John Ryan and his team at Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute in their ongoing ocean soundscape monitoring, sound designer Joe Krempetz blends together an unforgettable immersive experience. The movement explores orbiting, sloshing, counterbalance, and strength of the feminine forces. Allow the visual and auditory journey to leave your heart full of wonder and with the impulse to save our seas.
For audiences of all ages.
