The MacMomma
It's that time again! Time for the annual MacMomma Vegan Mac 'n' Cheese Cook Off (hosted by the Asheville Vegan Society and THE BLOCK Off Biltmore). Proceeds will go to help both TBOB and AVS continue to do vegan outreach. Will Fat Rabbit, vegan roaming, Courtney and Stephanie retain their titles or will a new winner emerge? Come, taste, vote, and find out.
Here's how it works:
Cook up your best vegan mac 'n' cheese and bring it to THE BLOCK Off Biltmore to be entered in the competition. (All entries must be set up and ready to go no later than 5:15.)
Your dish must include some type of pasta and some kind of vegan cheezy sauce. All entries must be vegan (no meat, fish, poultry, dairy, honey, or gelatin). Please bring enough for a bunch folks to have a small tasting of your dish.
NOTE: All dishes must arrive prepared. There is no cooking on site. You may have your entry in a chafing dish if you'd like. There will not be electricity to plug in crockpots, etc. Please, bring your own serving utensil. Thank you!
NOT A CHEF, NOT A PROBLEM! Please come and help us judge the entries, buy a green beer in celebration of St. Patrick's Day, and enjoy socializing. Please bring your appetite and your own plate and fork. Thank you! Plan to arrive at 5:00, check in, buy a drink, find a place to sit, and be ready to start tasting at 5:30! (See the schedule below)
Get your tickets early! Advance tickets will be the first in line for sampling.
To Enter: Free in advance ($5 at the door)
To Sample/Judge: $10 in advance ($15 at the door)
Prizes will be awarded for the top 3 winners. We hope to see you there! This will be one yummy competition!
Schedule:
5:00 - 5:15 All Cooks MUST arrive, check in and set up.
5:00 - 5:30 Tasters/Judges arrive, check in, buy a drink, find a place to sit, and be ready to start tasting at 5:30!
5:30 - 5:45 Let the tasting begin! Attendees who purchased advance tickets will line up and will be served a small taste from each entry.
5:45-6:00 Next round of tasting! Attendees who purchased tickets at the door will line up and will be served a small taste from each entry.
6:00 - 6:15 Finish eating and fill out your ballots!
6:15 - 6:30 Winners are announced. Prizes awarded. Photos taken.
6:30 - 7:00 Clean up, socialize and depart.

Parking info:
Parking is free in the municipal lot at Spruce and Marjorie.
The Aloft Hotel parking lot's first hour is free.
There is also parking at Charlotte and Eagle but it's a bit of an incline.
The church lot at 47 Eagle is a paid lot (flat $5)
Street parking is often available.

Prices:
To Enter: free if you register before midnight Mar 16th, $5 any entry after that
To Sample/Judge: $10 (sales close Mar 16th), $15 at the door
