Tule Elk on Coyote Ridge
Join Michael Hundt as he takes us into the fascinating world of the California Tule Elk and the beautiful ridge that they inhabit, Coyote Ridge. The Tule Elk is a subspecies of elk found only in California, ranging from the grasslands and marshlands of the Central Valley to the grassy hills on the coast. The subspecies name derives from the Tule, a species of sedge native to freshwater marshes on which the Tule Elk feeds. Michael is a California Naturalist and Wildlife videographer. He is a Santa Clara County Open Space Authority Docent and Henry Coe State Park Volunteer and Interpreter. Growing up in Wisconsin and being outdoors all through his childhood and adult life, taught him a true appreciation and love of nature.
