Improv-owski Weekend! Saturday, 7/27 Afternoon Workshop: Expanding Your Range: A Character Workshop
Acclaimed improv teacher Craig Cackowski comes to OKC Improv to teach and perform! Who is Craig, you ask? Craig Cackowski is an improvisor and teacher based in Los Angeles. He has been involved with the iO and iO West theaters since 1992, and is a member of long-running three-man troupe Dasariski (with Bob Dassie and Rich Talarico). As an actor, he has been seen on 8 episodes of Community as "Officer Cackowski," as well as shows such as The Mindy Project, Workaholics, How I Met Your Mother and Arrested Development. And this guy wants to work with you! He will be teaching three workshops while in OKC.
Saturday, July 27, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. -- Expanding Your Range: A Character Workshop Character in sketch comedy might mean funny wigs and glasses, but how do we create character in improvised scenes? And how do we develop and heighten those characters over the course of a scene, while still working with our partner? Craig will share a number of character-developing exercises, from the subtle to "over the top", and you'll never be accused of "always playing yourself" again!
Cost: $35 "early bird special" until June 30, $45 thereafter Location: Edmond Downtown Community Center, 28 E. Main Street. Spots Available: 15 Prerequisite: Level 1 improv class, or permission.
Directions to workshops: Drive north on Broadway Ext. / I-235 into Edmond. At 2nd St, continue north. You will pass 1st street, then turn right on Main Street. Drive one block and the Downtown Community Center will be on your right (south side of street). There is plenty of parking across street from the center. Workshops are in the classroom at the top of the stairs.
