Moira Smiley is a brilliant musician an innovative composer and arranger, and a heartbreakingly beautiful singer. Her music transcends (and expands) boundaries. BILLY CHILDS, multi-grammy-winning composer/pianist
In her solo show The Voice Is A Traveler, Singer / Composer, Moira Smiley weaves her banjo, accordion and piano around her magnificent voice. Singing and storytelling through her own timeless, original songs and traditional folk songs, we travel through stories of home, belonging, exile, adventure and longing. Themes of real and metaphorical border-crossings are seen through songs that spring from Anglo-Celtic ballads, American spirituals, European folk laments and sharp, poignant original songs. Moira invites the audience to sing or hum here and there with her. She can somehow inspire any room - anywhere - to sing.
