Keyboard Potpourri: a Desert Baroque House Music
Picture a beautiful avant-garde home in Palm Springs, a unique collection of early keyboard instruments (and more!) and a group of professional performers to partner with the instruments in a program of music spanning the Renaissance to - well - today. Now, put yourself in the picture on a beautiful afternoon, and join Desert Baroque as we say "Bye Bye Baroque...Festival", as this is the last of four concerts over a special weekend of mid-18th-century music.
Clavichords, Harpsichords, Fortepianos, a Toy Piano, (and possibly more) will be featured in this House Music, proceeding somewhat chronologically from the Renaissance, with dance music on the clavichord, Margaret Irwin-Brandon performs, and also adds music by a member of the Bach family; transitioning through the late French Baroque with Sonia Lee playing A. Forqueray's works on a French harpsichord; Mozart's "C Major Sonata" for 4 hands - Charlie Metz's fortepiano, with Meg, after which he and FJ Haydn choose to amuse. Also on the program, a duo for fortepiano and harpsichord - Madame Brillon, played by Randall Love and Elaine Funaro, who also plans to share a contemporary winner of the Alienor composition competion. Featured Festival performer, Monica Jakuc Leverett will present new music as well, and a surprise on the Toy Piano.
