Working - The Musical
Studio Connections' da Vinci Players present Stephen Schwartz's Working. The show opens for a preview performance on Thursday, September 11th, and will run for two weekends. Seating is limited, so advance ticket purchases are strongly recommended. WE'VE EXTENDED THE SHOW FOR ONE MORE NIGHT-SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 27th!

The hopes, dreams, joys and concerns of the average working American are the focus of this unique, extraordinary musical. That the everyday lives of common men and women should be so compelling and moving will surprise and inspire anyone who has ever punched a time clock.

Based on Studs Terkels best-selling book of interviews with American workers, Working paints a vivid portrait of the men and women the world so often takes for granted: the schoolteacher, the parking lot attendant, the waitress, the millworker, the mason, the trucker, the fireman, the housewife, just to name a few. It's a highly original look at the American landscape that's simply impossible to forget.

Working is one of the most accessible, relevant, and substantive musicals ever created. The new, revised version includes updated lyrics and two new songs by Stephen Schwartz and James Taylor.

Robert Encila, director and co-owner of Studio Connections with his wife, Ginny Encila, has performed internationally as a singer, actor, dancer, and musician. He has directed over forty productions and acted in multiple genres, with notable appearances in Godspell, Pippin, Man of La Mancha, Jesus Christ Superstar, A Chorus Line, A Normal Heart, Borderlands Theatre's Mixed Messages and Conjunto, and most recently in Arizona Theatre Company's The Pajama Game. In December 2008, he will appear at New York City's The Players Club and Birdland with Kindred Spirits, an original musical revue. His last directorial venture was the da Vinci Players production of Neil Simon's Barefoot in the Park.

Studio Connections is located at 9071 E. Old Spanish Trail, between Camino Seco and Harrison on the north side. For additional information, please call 731-1559.
