Radim Zenkl Benefit Concert
Radim Zenkl is a music performer, composer and instructor. Originally from the Czech Republic, Radim resides in California since 1989. His style features bluegrass, jazz, flamenco, classical, Eastern European traditional and original music. Radim is the US Mandolin Champion and remains at the cutting edge of the mandolin's future. He has invented a masterful technique, the "Zenkl style," in which a single mandolin sounds like two.
According to David Grisman: "Zenkl has re-invented the mandolin in several different ways." Radim has performed or recorded duets with musicians such as David Grisman, Mike Marshall, Chris Thile, Jerry Garcia, Rob Wasserman, Tony Rice, Bela Fleck, Noam Pikelny, Jerry Douglas, Sam Bush, Peter Rowan, Tim OBrien, John McCutcheon and many others. He has recorded nine solo CDs (released on Acoustic Disc, Shanachie and Ventana) and has appeared on more than sixty other recordings. Radims worldwide performing and teaching credentials include guest appearances at prestigious music institutions such as the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland, and several times at the Mandolin Symposium. His instructional DVD Mandolin Primer was released on Homespun in November 2015.
Radim offers an engaging and uplifting concert, displaying his talents on multiple instruments, including the didgerido and pennywhistle. "I always like to play from the heart. That seems the most natural, makes me really happy and I feel that I can pass this good feeling to the listener".
This is a rare opportunity to enjoy an exceptional musician who is normally off playing in other parts of the U.S. and Europe. Being so versatile, he has tunes for every listener. Join this fun evening and contribute to Radim's recovery.
