Hydraulic Trailer Safety Training
A new members-only training opportunity from MMTA! This course covers best practices for hydraulic trailer operations, loading safety, basic equipment maintenance, as well as blocking and boat stand usage all with an eye toward OSHA requirements and the safe operation of the machine in the yard and over the road. Participants who successfully complete the quiz will receive a Certificate of Completion from MMTA.
The class will run from 9:00 a.m. -1:30 pm of Friday, February 8 at Portland Yacht Services in Portland. Pizza lunch will be included.

Who Should Attend: Equipment operators, members of the yard crew who engage in moving boats with a hydraulic trailer, people who supervise these crews, people who are responsible for the regular maintenance of this machinery, people you are grooming to become equipment operators. About our Instructor: Salvatore Gugliara, CCM - Sal currently holds a Master Inland 500-ton License with the endorsements of Radar Observer Unlimited, Advanced Firefighting and STCW. My marine career began as a deckhand on board charter fishing boats on City Island, NY. I received my original captains license in January 1991 served aboard tug boats, dinner vessels, passenger ferries and towing vessels. In 1992, he founded S&J Marine Services LLC, which is currently in operation, a marine towing and transport company specialization in over the road boat transport of power boats, oversized loads and sailboats. In April 2002, he accepted his current position for the City of New Rochelle as the Harbormaster/Marina Manager; charged with daily operations of the Municipal Marina including hauling launching blocking of over 900 vessels yearly and associated property management of water-use dependent businesses. Sals education includes certificates of training from State University of New York Maritime in Marine Surveyor-Yacht Claims Handling. Most recently appointed to the IMI training committee for Association of Marina Industries. New York State Municipal Police Training Council in Peace Officer with fire arms Impaired Boaters Recognition and Marine Patrol Operator. He holds a New York State class A commercial drivers license for truck/trailer combination and is a company representative for Hostar Marine Transportation, makers of hydraulic boat transport trailers. His speaking engagements include boat trailer training course for ABBRA American Boat Builders Repairers Association, Sal has served as an expert witness providing testimony at several EBTs, for the Staten Island Districts Attorney office regarding a Vehicular Homicide case involving a boat trailer and in Westchester Supreme Court and NYS Department of Motor Vehicles in several boating while intoxicated refusal hearings. He presented a very shortened version of this training at the 2017 IBEX show and 2015 IMBC in Florida.
