Kosa Ayurvedic Kitchen Spring: Rejuvenation
Ayurveda, an Indian art of medicine dating back over 5,000 years, translates to the "science of life" or the "art of longevity". In this healing science, food is an essential medicine used to bring our bodies into balance with nature and our environment.
The third in our series of cooking events comes during an important seasonal transition during which food is a gateway for a healthy new start in Spring. Shilpa Sankaran, owner of Kosa, will be joined by Lalita Sankaran to lead a multi-sensory experience, sharing more knowledge of Ayurveda, the spices and cooking techniques. Tickets are $35 and include a 3-course meal complete with tea, a snack, meal, dessert and special gift from Kosa. About Kosa Opening at the Garver Feed Mill in Spring of 2019, Kosa provides sanctuary, a place to retreat, simplify and tend to oneself, and in doing so return to ones true nature. Ayurvedic spa services will focus on sharing ways of living well for mind and body. A unique fusion of East meets West, Kosa blends the 5,000 year old Indian tradition of Ayurveda with organic, Wisconsin-sourced ingredients and products that change with the seasons. One can visit for one-time bodywork treatments and rituals, connect with oneself on a day retreat to enjoy the space, food, hydrotherapy, or engage in a more long-term wellness balancing plan.
Lalita Sankaran is a licensed Occupational Therapist and creator of the Kosa Kitchen. As a first generation immigrant from India, Lalita has practiced her cultural heritage of Ayurveda throughout her life. In addition, with a culinary education in India, Ayurvedic principles are inherently a part of her cooking techniques.
