Days of Atonement- Bama Ivrit
Jewish Circle Theatre is proud to present Days of Atonement. A play by Israeli playwright Hanna Azulay-Hasfari, Directed by Sarit Eizenman under the creative vision of Ofra Daniel and performed by Bama-Ivrit Ensemble. The play is presented in Hebrew with English supertitles. In this gripping and funny family drama, right before Yom Kippur, an elderly mother returns her apartment to the city housing department in Netivot, and vanishes. Her four daughters are summoned from different parts of the country to the apartment where they spent their youth, in search of the disappearing mother. Fanny, a provocative businesswoman; ultra-orthodox Evelyn, the mother of eight daughters; Malka, a housewife sick with envy; and Amira, a cinema student desperately seeking a subject for a film. Days of Atonement ("Selichot") has been produced at two Romanian theaters: Tes in Bucharest, the North Theater of Satu Mare and Nottara Theatre, Bucharest. In Israel, it has been worldly premiered at Beit-Lessin Theatre in 2000. Another new production has been running at Beer-Sheba Municipal theatre in 2017.
