Mr. Collins Hemingway: Riots and Insurrections
Popular speaker Collins Hemingway will explore social conditions and political dissent in England during Jane Austen's lifetime. Mr. Hemingway has spent years researching the broad social, political, military, and scientific history of the Regency era. He is the author of a historical fiction trilogy, "The Marriage of Miss Jane Austen", which examines scientific and industrial breakthroughs, the Napoleonic wars, and changing views about the slave trade through the lens of Jane Austen's life.
JASNA Traveling Lecturer Dr. Regulus Allen: From Hampshire to Hollywood: Teaching an Austen Fiction and Film Course
JASNA Traveling Lecturer Dr. Regulus Allen, Associate Professor of Literature at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, will explore Austen's novels through a variety of film adaptations. Among many other publications, Dr. Allen is the author of "Speculation in Mansfield Park" in "Approaches to Teaching Mansfield Park", published by the Modern Language Association in 2014. Her research and teaching interests include British Literature of the Eighteenth Century.
