Set in a televangelist studio in the 80's (scrunchies! Michael Jackson and Madonna! Reaganomics!) this adaptation of the classic Moliere play has Tartuffe as a deposed televangelist who tricks Orgon and his family out of their money and home. This very silly family either tries to prevent Tartuffe or help him, and the play takes great delight in skewering religious hypocrites. Come for the shoulder pads, stay for the modern verse and great comedic acting. Our curtain warmer, The Rehearsal, written by former student Frank Garland, was inspired by Moliere's Rehearsal at Versailles. Set in the Northwest School and illuminating actor foibles, you are in for the treat of Frank Garland's wit. December 13, 14, 15 @7pm, December 16@ 2pm, 401 Black Box Theater.
