Structured Improvisation in Movement
We live our lives in improvisation. Whether we are climbing a new route, grocery shopping, hiking, or dancing, we do not exactly know what is going to happen next. When we practice movement, we should be practicing with improvisation as a goal.
Another focus of this work is to develop a better relationship knowing your body, and therefore, yourself. This class will focus on the spectrum of closed to open, of technique to flow, of analytical work to creative work. We will work with different ideas, principles, restrictions, and techniques in a series of connected exercises aimed to develop a deepened perspective on how your body moves.
Workshop Part 1: solo development 3-4:30pm Workshop Part 2: partnering and contact improv 5-6:30
