The Red Rose Combo
Close out Women's History Month with The Red Rose Combo.
Creative, dynamic and full of talent and wit, The Red Rose Combo from Philadelphia highlights the work of women composers and lyricists from the early '20s to today through story and song, all in a classic jazz format.
The Red Rose Combo takes their name in honor of Violet Oakley and her Red Rose Girls who chose to live and work together in solidarity, focused on their art. They don't live together but they do love working together and they love playing great music written by women.
The lineup at this show will include Jean Lenke (vocals), Monnette Sudler (bass), Suzzette Ortiz (keys and vocals), Lynn Riley (sax and flute) and Karen Smith (percussion).
