South Bend Executive Women's MasterMind
No two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind [the master mind]. ~Napoleon Hill
This event brings together women in business - women who are CEOs, Partners, Executives, and Business Leaders - and offers a combination of brainstorming, education, peer accountability, and support. Whether you are at the pinnacle of your career or are relatively new to the Executive Suite, this is an opportunity for you to gain insights, support and expert perspectives from other women in leadership.
Consider this a safe place to celebrate successes, share challenges and more with other powerful women leaders in our community. Women who may face the same situations as you do.
By getting the perspective, knowledge, experience, and resources of others in the group, not only can you greatly expand your own limited view of the world you can also advance your own goals and projects more quickly.
The focus of our gathering this quarter is:
Difficult...and Crucial Conversations
A crucial conversation is defined as: Crucial Conversation (kroo shel känvur sa shen) n A discussion between two or more people where (1) stakes are high, (2) opinions vary, and (3) emotions run strong.
We have 3 choices when it comes to handling these conversations -
-Avoid the conversation -Face the conversation and handle it poorly -Face the conversation and handle it well
Despite the importance of crucial conversations, we often back away from them because we fear well make matters worse. We've become masters at avoiding tough conversations. Coworkers send e-mail to each other when they should walk down the hall and talk. Bosses leave voice mail in lieu of meeting with their direct reports. Family members change the subject when an issue gets too risky.
At the heart of almost all chronic problems in our organizations, our teams, and our relationships lie crucial conversations that were either not holding or not holding well. If you know how to handle crucial conversations, you can effectively hold tough conversations about virtually any topic.*
