Doubt, A Parable
Sponsored by Happy Belly Deli, Old Bluff Theatre Co. produces John Patrick Shanley's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, "Doubt, A Parable." Set in the Bronx in 1964, Doubt tells the story of Roman Catholic school principal Sister Aloysius - a woman with a reputation for flinty resolve who inhabits a black and white world. When she doubts the innocence of a relationship between a parish priest and a student, she sets out to expose the truth and force the priest to confess the sins she believes he's committed.
Despite the protestations of the boy's mother, the disbelief of a novice nun, the weight of the Church authorities, and the denials of the priest himself, Sister Aloysius remains unwavering in her convictions. Is she driven by the strength and certainty of her faith? Or is she unjustly persecuting the priest?
Called "an eloquent and provocative investigation of truth and consequences," "Doubt" is certain to entertain.
"Doubt, A Parable" stars Clay Boney, Natalie Pope, Susan Rouse, and Bronda Cooper. Directed by Lucy Lockamy. Performances run Thursday, May 9, 2013, through Sunday, May 12, 2013, at A Peaceful Path, 111 Ace Plaza, Clinton, North Carolina.
