A Metamodern Prometheus
"And now, once again, I bid my hideous progeny go forth and prosper. I have an affection for it, for it was the offspring of happy days, when death and grief were but words, which found no true echo in my heart." ~ Mary Shelley
It is the Summer of 1816. Mary Shelley, with her husband Percy Bysshe Shelley, where in Switzerland. There in the "Year Without A Summer" a group of literary minded friends amused themselves by telling ghost stories.
"We will each write a ghost story." Said Lord Byron, and his proposition was acceded to.
It was a contest among poets, with little taste for prose... yet from this contest was born one of the greatest of horror stories, one still revered today, 200 years after its publication.
"Frankenstein, or A Modern Prometheus" is a tale that has been told on stage, and screen. But on October 25th, OtterPup Productions brings you a new adaptation... not of the novel itself, but of it's beginning.
"A Metamodern Prometheus: A Burlesque Ballet Inspired by Mary Shelley"
Join Sailor St. Claire as Mary Shelley, with Fosse Jack (Percy Shelley), Onyx Asili (Lord Byron), Al Lykya (John Polidori), Clara Rose (Claire Clairmont), and Trixie Paprika (The Ballerina Fantomatique) as they travel back to that ungenial Summer of 1816, and the chateau of Lord Byron.
