Gwendolyn Mok "Brahms and Poetry" featuring poet Robert Haas
Pianist Gwendolyn Mok will perform selections from her new CD Brahms; Late Piano Works, Opp 116-119 on an 1868 Erard, a historic piano from the composer's time, at the intimate Hillside Club. Joining her will be former Poet Laureate and Pulitzer prize winning poet, Robert Hass, who will read selected poems about music. The evening is a benefit for the Historic Keyboard Collection in the School of Music at San Jose State University where Mok is Coordinator of Keyboard Studies. Her earlier solo CD Ravel Revealed, the complete solo works of Maurice Ravel recorded on the 1868 Erard, is frequently broadcast on radio stations locally and around the world. Both the Brahms and the Ravel are on the Musicians Showcase Recording label.
