CANstruction Philadelphia 2013 Awards Gala
Canstruction is one of the most unique food charities in the world! Canstruction, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that holds annual design and build competitions to construct fantastic, giant-sized, structures made entirely out of canned food. In each city after the structures are built and the winners declared, the creations go on view to the general public as giant art exhibits.
In Philadelphia, the event is organized by the American Institute of Architects' Associate Committee and the Center For Architecture, also a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and the structures will be on display in the Rotunda at Liberty Place from April 13-21, 2013. At the end of our event, all of the food that is raised or donated goes to the Delaware Valleys largest hunger relief organization, Philabundance. Last year, Canstruction Philadelphia raised and donated over 87,000 meals to Philabundance!
As an event organized and participated in by the Philadelphia design community, we see this event as a perfect way for us to give back to the communities that we help to build. Wherever a Canstruction competition is held thousands of hungry people are fed, a greater awareness of the issues surrounding hunger is brought home to the public, and a spotlight is placed on the design and construction industry giving back to the communities it helps build.
THIS YEAR'S AWARDS GALA WILL TAKE PLACE ON APRIL 13TH, 2013 IN THE ROTUNDA AT THE SHOPS AT LIBERTY PLACE (1625 CHESTNUT STREET, PHILADELPHIA, PA). THE ENTRANCE IS AT THE CORNER OF CHESTNUT AND 16TH STREET. THE GALA WILL RUN FROM 8PM-10PM.
